Summary:
Nowadays, Bluetooth came in useful for electronics, telecommunications and computer. It
permits any kind of electronics equipment establish their own connections, without cabling and
without direct actions from the user. Java language programming and platform appear to join
Bluetooth technology to be the base of next generation wireless applications. Developers have built a
platform providing a run time environment for embedded systems upon small devices. This paper gives
an overview of Bluetooth and introduces the Java platform for developing Mobile Applications. A
simple Bluetooth Chat application will be also introduced as an example. This paper include 4 parts.
Part 1 presents Bluetooth Network topology, protocol stack and bluetooth profiles. Part 2 presents
organization of the J2ME platform. Part 3 introduce Java APIs for Bluetooth wireless technology and
Application programming. Part 4 presents a sample application.
